The aim of this course is to make students familiar with the basic principles and practices of governance and control in multinational firms.

Introduction to basic principles and practices of governance and control of firms operating in an international environment. The course focuses on principles of (corporate) governance more broadly, its purpose and specifics in a multinational context, and its relations to aspects of (corporate/country-specific) culture.

 Central practices of (management) control – as an important pillar of corporate governance – will be discussed.

 The seminar is strongly tied to the lecture. Students will deepen their understanding of the topics discussed during the lecture at the example of hands-on exercises that are discussed during the seminar.
