Students are able to

-      describe and critically reflect on processes of materials development and the (changing) role of published materials in ELT;

-      analyse and evaluate different types of published materials for teaching and learning EFL, applying criteria to describe methodological approaches and writers’ beliefs of L2 acquisition

-      plan teaching sequences including different kinds of published materials and adapt these materials for their chosen teaching situation

This seminar focuses on the range of published materials available for teaching and learning EFL (including coursebooks & supplementary digital or print materials, grammar reference & practice books, learners’ dictionaries …) and their role in ELT. Analysing, evaluating and adapting materials represent essential parts of the course – along with critical reflections on trends and changes in ELT publishing.

Positiv absolviertes Pflichtmodul 1 des Bachelorstudiums Lehramt Sekundarstufe (Allgemeinbildung) Unterrichtsfach Englisch.

Diese LV ist dem Pflichtmodul 2 („Kompetenzorientierter Fremdsprachenunterricht“) des Bachelorstudiums Lehramt Sekundarstufe (Allgemeinbildung) Unterrichtsfach Englisch zugeordnet. Dem Studienverlauf folgend wird empfohlen, PM2a vor PM2b zu absolvieren.
