The aim of this course is to provide students with a non-pharmaceutical background a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental concepts and underlying scientific principles of pharmaceutical manufacturing and biotechnology.

Pharmaceutical manufacturing

·         Pharmaceutical basic operations: grinding, blending, filtration, drying, etc.

·         Pharmaceutical excipients and polymeric materials

·         Physico-chemical principles and technology of pharmaceutical preparations such as powder, tablets, capsules, granules and pellets, liquid preparations, dispersed systems, semi-solid formulations etc.

·         Industrial development and production of pharmaceuticals, process engineering and analysis

Biotechnology

·         Scope, concepts and terminology of biotechnology

·         Process of bio-manufacturing

·         Regulatory and social issues surrounding biotechnology

          ·         Self-centered learning content
